Plan Knowledge Matrices
In Blessed Sacrament, for each topic of the Science National Curriculum in each year group, a planning matrix provides support in identifying:
key learning and vocabulary the children need to have acquired
examples of possible activities that enable pupils to learn or apply the knowledge
examples of possible evidence to support securing skills in the learning and vocabulary.
These documents are used to support the planning of science in our school.
Progression in Vocabulary and Progression in Knowledge and Scientific Skills
PLAN Progression in knowledge
This document shows the links between the topics taught in different year groups.
PLAN Progression in working scientifically skills
This document shows progression of the working scientifically skills through the school.
Although this shows progression of science in EYFS in Blessed Sacrament, we do not teach science as topics. It is embedded through our planned curriculum in EYFS.
PLAN Scientific enquiry types - definitions
This PowerPoint presentation provides clear definitions of the five types of scientific enquiry set out in the National Curriculum in England. These are the enquiry types that we embed into all science lessons in Blessed Sacrament.
